Parish Council

The Parish Council meets on the second Monday of each month from September-June. Nominations are held every February, and elections to become a member of the council are held in March. Please speak with the Pastor if you are interested in being on the Council. The Parish Council effectively advises Father on all aspects of parish life. No important decisions are made without careful and thorough discussion beforehand by the parish council.

Liturgy Committee

The Liturgy Committee usually meets bi-monthly in the Rectory. The meeting is open to all members of the parish. The Committee meets to discuss some of the special spiritual needs of the parish, and gives ideas for liturgical celebrations as well as help.

Evangelization Committee

This involves all community members. We are all called to be a disciple of Good News. We hope to bring the good news of God's love to our whole parish community - reaching out to all in need, inviting all to come join us weekly or daily to attend mass and become an active part of our Catholic Community. Our Parish will grow and become more alive.

Social Action Committee

The Social Action Committee is prepared to help parishioners in the following ways:
• Receptions in the Parish Hall after funerals.
• Providing food in emergencies: such as after a hospital stay.
• Visiting newcomers and homebound. Two or more will call and go to their house with a snack and beverage to welcome them to our church. We will give them a copy of this booklet. They will be invited to come to the coffee hour.
• Greeters at Mass: There are two greeters at each Mass to welcome parishioners, and pass out Missalettes and bulletins. There is a sign-up sheet in the back of church to volunteer to be a greeter. Please take time to perform this very special welcome ministry.
• Assisting our local homeless shelter to meet the needs of their residence in a variety of a ways.
For more information please contact: Connie Goodrich: 475-2277, Helen Kahrs: 759-2361 or Jeannine Choquette: 545-2532, Co-Chairs of the Social Action Committee.

Finance Committee

The Finance Committee meets the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 5p.m. The meetings are open to parishioners - come to a meeting and learn about the parish finances. The committee is responsible for preparing the budget and ensuring that St. Peter's Parish Charitable Trust remains financially sound. We review the finances and look at trends. Any large increases in costs are discussed to see if there are changes that can be made to reduce costs. Also any large financial purchases are discussed and voted on. Quarterly we put a letter in the bulletin summarizing for the parishioners what has happened in the last six months. At least once a year a statement is read from the pulpit after Mass informing the parishioners of the financial status.

Building Committee

The Building Committee meets once per month in the parish hall. To become a member, just express an interest and speak with the Pastor. The committee oversees the maintenance and renovations of parish buildings (Church, Rectory, Parish Hall and Grange Building); oversees the duties of the Custodian, and develops policy - rental of Parish Hall, etc. The group meets to prioritize work that needs to be done and follows those projects through to completion.

St. Peter's Cemetery Committee

We are a volunteer group responsible for the mapping and selling of cemetery lots, addressing concerns of family members of the deceased in regards to maintenance and appearance of the cemetery, overseeing the care and maintenance of the cemetery, and bookkeeping (income and expenses). The Cemetery Committee meets once a year and special meetings can be scheduled for emergencies that may come forth during the year.
